I'm Jay Gorodetzer
I have been a professional photojournalist for over 35 years. My professional career began when I was a student at The Pennsylvania State University. My first step there was as a photographer for The Daily Collegian, the school's award-winning daily newspaper. I then began to get work from various colleges at the university. I established a Sports Photography Internship for Penn State's Athletic Department and I was a Teaching Assistant for Photojournalism classes. Upon graduation, I was hired by The Philadelphia Inquirer, where I was a photographer, photo editor and assistant news editor.
As a photographer and Photo Editor, I covered news, events and professional sports such as the Super Bowl, the Winter Olympics, NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. My pictures have appeared in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, USA Today, People Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, on Upper Deck Trading Cards and other publications and wire services.
I am a two-time Pulitzer Prize Finalist in the category of Team Spot News Coverage.
After a 20-year career at The Philadelphia Inquirer, I established Jay Gorodetzer Photography to serve the commercial photography needs of Educational Institutions, Businesses, Organizations and Families.
Through my achievements at the newspaper as a photojournalist, photo editor and page designer, I have learned the precious nuances that produce the most meaningful images for a given project. My corporate, educational and family client list continues to grow each year.
